In a special ceremony in the Palace gardens, Emperor Strephon today ratified the Treaty of Quar, which establishes a state of peace and cooperation between the Imperium and the Zhodani Consulate.
Among the honors bestowed by the Emperor in his Holiday List, Duke Norris of Regina has been appointed Archduke of Deneb for his part in negotiating the treaty.
While the treaty has received criticism in some quarters, public opinion
overwhelmingly welcomes the move. The peace is expected to result in
increased civilian ship construction, leading to an upturn in an already healthy
Imperial economy. The stock markets are expected to show large gains
when they re-open tomorrow.
